Colorado Law
The Natural Medicine Health Act
Colorado's framework for legal psilocybin facilitation, established by Proposition 122 (2022).
About the NMHA
What the NMHA does
Colorado voters passed Proposition 122 in 2022. The Natural Medicine Health Act decriminalized natural medicines, including psilocybin, and created a regulated framework for supervised sessions held by licensed healing centers. Regulatory rollout from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies is effective 2024 through 2026.
Where Ceremonia fits
Members of Ceremonia’s facilitation team hold individual NMHA licenses verified on Colorado’s DORA registry; Ceremonia itself operates as a 508(c)(1)(a) faith-based organization, with ceremonies held under RFRA. Our Colorado retreats include state-licensed facilitators, medical staff on site, and structured preparation + integration around every session.
What this means for participants
Participants in NMHA-licensed sessions are not violating Colorado state law. There is no medical prescription requirement, but screening is required to confirm safety. The framework is designed to make supervised psilocybin sessions accessible while protecting participants from harm.
For ceremonies outside Colorado, see the federal RFRA framework.
